Default Warrior/Monk build

Originally posted this on another forum but only got one good response. Hopefully I'll have better luck on this Forum. Thanks!

Been playing GW for about 2 weeks and have just reached level 7 and have done all of the quests in pre-searing apart from the two that need allies and a couple of others.

I'm ready to go post-searing but need some help on my build as in, am I using my attributes and skills properly?

My attributes are:

Healing Prayers 2
Smiting Prayers 2
Protection Prayers 1
Strength 4
Axe Mastery 3
Tactics 3

As you can see they are all spread out, Jack of all Trades. How should I be allocating these points?

My skills so far are:

Cyclone Axe
Executioners Axe *
Frenzy *
Gash
Hammer Bash
Healing Signet *
Sever Artery
Bane Signet *
Orison of Healing *
Retribution *
Reversal of Fortune
Shielding Hands *
Symbol of Wrath *

Asterisks show the current skills in use. Needless to say I'm using the Axe skills rather than the Sword and Hammer Skills.

Also, a couple of skills say 'target ally', does that mean they won't work for me? I tried to look at what happens while using them but was distracted by trying to stay alive.

First I would pick one weapon skill. Make a decision Axe, Sword, or Hammer. Then I would suggest healing because as a tank you don't want to rely solely on the Monk b/c monks have to worry about 7 other players. Most players tanks or not tend to pick 3-4 attributes to put points into. Usually max 3 attributes , or they max 2 attributes and have 2 other attributes around 8ish. My suggestion to use is decide on weapon you'd like, then search forums as it has been discussed. You'll find tons of helpful information about attributes and what people think is good or bad. Then test em out and see what you like best. Just because some people think something is good doesn't mean you'll like it. Find what you like and enjoy!!!

Thanks PF. Will stick with Axes and Healing as 2 of the attributes and will scan the forums but even with search on there's pages of topics. Don't know if I should have Strength or Tactics as the 3rd attribute though.
